Are you Growing in Grace and Knowledge?

Grow in Grace and the Knowledge of Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I read this scripture and it makes me wonder how and why so many christians try to grow by their own efforts. I actually know how and why and it makes me sad sometimes. A lot of christians grow by denying the flesh and this somehow makes them more spiritual. That's not spirituality, but it is self abasement, which paul talks about in colossians.

Others grow by doing so called christian things or christian activities. Doing more and more christian services helps them Grow. Attending all church functions etc... Which actually can hinder your growth. Sounds crazy but it's true. We can get so bound up in service that we leave our first love like it says in Rev.

I believe that the best way and the ONLY way to grow is to let the Lord do the Growing!!

Peter said in 2 Peter 3: 18 "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."

To grow in Grace means that we need to accept that there is nothing that we can do to add to our salvation or contiuation or growth. It's realizing that it's all Jesus and none of ourselves. This is not an easy road to come by. Many times we have to get involved in so called christian service just so we can fall flat on our face and realize that it's him and not us that holds us up, by his GRACE.

When we come to the end of ourselves, then and only then, will we start growing in Grace. When we finally totally trust in him for our growth and continuation and santification and justification.

It's his LOVING GRACE that gives us strenght to walk this Christian walk. It's knowing that God loves us and is committed to us. The bible says he will hold us up:

Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.

Also we need to grow in the Knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

This is a big error in the church today. Christians don't grow in grace but in self and that only causes a self righteousness. Which is not growing in the knowledge of Jesus.

Grow in the knowledge of him. Jesus said in Matt 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and LEARN of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

He said to learn of him. We run around and try to learn about everything else in the bible but learning of him. He has all the fruits of the spirit abiding in him. Meek, lowly in heart, temperance, self controll, patience, Love Joy Peace etc...

Let's fix our eyes on Jesus and learn of him. You see if your not growing in grace it's hard to keep your eyes on him because your eyes are on you trying to do better for him. Which seems right in the self righteousness mind set. It's not done intentional but throught not knowing the new covenant.

But instead Grow in grace and then you will fix your eyes on him and then we will have the fruits of the spirit abiding in us daily.

When we grow in Grace then we will be able to fix our eyes on him and off ourselves and we realize that's it's all him. But until then it will be very hard to grow in the knowledge of him, until we grow in GRACE.

My brother and sisters it's the only way to grow. There is no other way. It's all Jesus and none of us. Oh I hope you will see that today.
